George Hutchinson (PhD, George Mason Schar School of Policy and Government) is the Managing Editor of the International Journal of Korean Studies as well as a board member of the International Council on Korean Studies.

Additionally, Dr. Hutchinson advises U.S. Air Force basing issues in the Republic of Korea. He developed an encroachment management program for Seventh Air Force in 2015, through which he continues to support management of risks and impacts to mission sustainment of Seventh Air Force installations throughout the Republic of Korea. He has also served as logistics lead for the Decision Analytics team supporting the HAF/A5 Air Force Warfighting Integration Capability and as primary action officer to Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, supporting the development and execution of the Air Force Synthetic Fuels program, and managing planning and execution of quarterly 4-Star level Senior Energy Focus Group.

He previously served as a commissioned and noncommissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, specializing as a Logistics Readiness Officer and Korean linguist. Dr. Hutchinson’s writings have been published in the International Journal of Korean Studies, U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings, the Air Force Journal of Logistics, and the Marine Corps University Press as well as in reports by the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea and the Korea Economic Institute of America. He holds a Ph.D. from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government and a master’s in logistics management from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology.
